Packed halls and an enthusiastic audience drawn from various sectors of the wood industry and from across French-speaking Switzerland: the 2021 edition of the Rencontres Romandes du Bois was a resounding success, with an attendance rate of 91% over the three-day event.
During the event, 47 high-profile speakers took the stage to exchange ideas, share information, and advance the wood industry, focusing on three themes: innovation, construction, and forestry. Held at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, the Rencontres Romandes du Bois ‘21 served as a forum for debate, commitment, and promotion, as well as for networking and business. What stood out most about this edition was the diversification of the industry and the incredible potential of wood and all its components. The material, especially when sourced from local forests, is now part of the solution to the challenge of decarbonizing the economy. “The 21st century will undoubtedly be the century of wood,” declared Philippe Nicollier, President of the organizing committee for the Rencontres.
