16 apprentices at the World Forum on Democracy
On November 2 and 3, 2026, Strasbourg will host the World Forum on Democracy in the main chamber of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. This event is part of the New Democratic Pact for Europe, launched by Council of Europe Secretary General Alain Berset in response to the erosion of democracy in our countries.
With the support of the Geneva Department of Public Education, FEDRE is organizing the participation of 16 apprentices and two instructors from the Construction Vocational Training Center (CFPC). It aims to increase the presence of young people in this debate by involving apprentices, who are still too rarely invited to this type of event.
Three half-day preparation sessions have been scheduled at the school on October 5, 12, and 26, 2026. The goal is to learn how the Council of Europe—of which Switzerland is a member—operates, to understand the issues at stake in the Forum, and to prepare questions and remarks.
A debriefing session is planned upon our return from Strasbourg. The discussions will then continue in a broader group, so that the experience can live on beyond the trip.
