As part of the SDC-funded program “LëvizAlbania / Local Democracy in Action,” representatives from the associations involved in the project undertook a three-day visit to Geneva (June 1–3, 2017) to exchange experiences on issues related to local democracy with representatives from the City of Geneva and the civil society sector.
Switzerland is one of the leading contributors to local government assistance in Albania. Through LevizAlbania, Switzerland promotes and mobilizes civil society with the aim of enabling it to play a more active role in improving the quality of local government. It supports the country’s transition and contributes to making the democratic system and market economy more effective, ensuring social inclusion, all while supporting Albania’s European integration.
The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) supports initiatives aimed at strengthening local democracy, democratization, and decentralization in Albania. The goal is to improve services for citizens.
