As a member with participatory status at the Council of Europe, FEDRE held observer status at the body that specifically represents local and regional authorities from across Europe: the Congress.

However, since the latter recently amended its internal regulations, FEDRE had to submit a request to Congress for one of the new statuses provided for in the regulations: that of “observer partner.”

FEDRE President Claude Haegi appeared before the Chamber of Regions in Strasbourg on Monday, March 21, 2022. The representatives of the Congress voted in favor of granting FEDRE the new status, emphasizing that the Foundation exemplifies particularly well the values upheld by the Council of Europe and that it works specifically in an area of great relevance to the Congress: sustainable development (economy, environment, social cohesion) at the local and regional levels.
