The year 2022 marks a major turning point in the history of global forestry, making theXVWorld Forestry Congress a crucial event. We have only ten years left to implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and achieve its Sustainable Development Goals, as well as the objectives and targets of the United Nations Strategic Plan on Forests. The progress made to date is commendable but insufficient, and we must step up our efforts and find new ways to achieve the most ambitious goals humanity has ever set for itself.
Frederic Staat, as coordinator of the Woodrise Alliance, was invited by the FAO to participate virtually in the WFC’s special event: “The Contribution of the Circular Forest Bioeconomy to Sustainable Development.” A short video was filmed to introduce the members and initiatives of the Woodrise Alliance.
