| Keys to the “2000 watt Society„ |
| It is impossible to avoid decreasing the consumption of fossil energies, not marginally but radically. Today, the inhabitants of the industrialized nations consume annually between 6000 and 12000 watts. The recourse to renewable energies could cover a part, the remainder of it coming from a rationalization of consumption. In the way towards the stabilization of the climate and the price of energies, one can give oneself like intermediate objective an average of 2000 watts for world consumption per capita. Let us explore all aspects and scenarios of a modern and wealthy 2000 watt society, without reduction in the quality of life. |

Building consumes 45% of the energy of Switzerland. New constructions can be energetically
autonomous and even provide electricity to thirds thanks to intelligent architectural designs, good insulation and solar energy. In the renovated buildings one can have an autonomy from 50 to 60%. Such an approach should cause a spectacular fall of the needs. Such savings are also possible for transportation. If it is known, speaking of a future shortage is a lie to justify the improper use of oil, projects of nuclear thermal power stations and to slow down technologies compatible with sustainable development. The implementation of these powerful technologies is simple and economically profitable. This day is addressed initially to all surroundings of construction, architects, engineers, contractors, promoters, owners and managers of buildings' parks, representatives of tenants' associations. |
